Have A Wonderful Birthday-- PP355 and SSC 158

July 30, 2017

It's hard to believe that July is over and all the children will be back in school in the next few days.  Summer just flew by!

It is time for new challenges at The Paper Players and Sunday Stamps!

I am so excited that I could combine these two challenge this week.  I am in Indiana to see my niece star in Grease.  She is playing the role of Sandy.  I am so excited!  She is sooo talented and we are very proud of her!

The fabulous Joanne is our hostess this week at The Paper Players!  She has a Tic-Tac-Toe board for us to play along with!  WOW--so many possibilities!

Sunday Stamps is featuring my sketch.  I thought it would be fun to make square cards this time.  You know, "It's Hip To Be Square!"

My card is created on a white card base.  I added a yellow and white gingham background and used a coordinating plaid for the rectangle strip.  My sentiment is stamped on a white stitched square.  My flowers are from Altenew Peony Bouquet stamp set and the matching dies are used to cut them out.  I used the Altenew Cool Summer Night inks.  The leaves are from the same set.  I added two banners from the matching DSP to complete the sketch.  A few sparkling clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh were added for fun.  My Tic-Tac-Toe row is the top row:  die cut, banner birthday.  Have fun and we can't wait to see what you create!

Don't forget to check out the fabulous inspirations from our design team and I hope that you will play along with our challenge this week.

You Are AMAZING--FMS 298

July 27, 2017

Today I am playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge!  I was so excited when I saw Linda's fabulous sketch I knew I had to play along.

I am so excited because I am going to Indiana this weekend to see my niece, Olivia play the role of Sandy in Grease.  She is 15 years old and landed the main role!  We are so proud of her.

To go along with her little gift, I wanted a special card to give her.  She loves bright neon colors and I decided to stencil a background with a variety of distress inks.  I cut the stenciled piece in triangles and used black behind each piece.  I layered a Melon Mambo strip down the center.  I used a die and cut "Amazing" in black and then 3 more layers in Lemon Lime Twist.  Wink of Stella was added for shine!  I would have used clear sequins, but since she is "The STAR", I decided to add gold stars.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!  Break A Leg, Olivia!

My card is created for my precious Robert's 3rd birthday.  I always call him my little pirate.  I used a white card base and found a piece of red and white striped paper in my stash for the background.  Black card stock stripes were cut to place on top of the stripes.  I added a white circle cut with SugarPea Designs Zig Zag Stitched Circle dies and embossed it with a striped embossing folder.  Then I cut an open banner for a frame using SU banner dies.  My little pirate and parrot are from My Favorite Things Party Like A Pirate stamp set and cut out with the matching dies.  I colored them with Copic markers and added Wink of Stella for shine.  The sentiment is from the same set and heat embossed in white powder.  A few enamel dots were added for fun.

Smiles! PP#353

July 16, 2017

It is an exciting day for my family!  My son, John is marrying his beautiful fiancé today!  I am so happy for them.  I am home in Indiana with my family.  It is so wonderful to have special time with all of them.

It's time for a new challenge at The Paper Players!  I am the hostess this week!  I love summer water fun and I thought it would be fun to create cards with this theme.   The challenge is Clean and Simple so remember to limit your layers and embellishments.

I am also entering my card in the Fusion Challenge.  They have a beach inspiration scene this week, too!

My card is created on a white card base.  I used an old favorite stamp set Gorgeous Grunge to create this fun background.  I used a variety of distress inks on watercolored paper with the stamps and created the sky and sand.  I spritzed it with water and this fabulous background came to life.  I loved it!  I trimmed  it with Avery Elle Wonky Border dies.  The little elephant is from one of my favorite new stamp sets Beach Day from Neat and Tangled.  I colored the elephant with Copic Markers.  The sentiment is cut four times using the Winnie and Walter Cutaways dies.  I used Chocolate Chip for the base and 3 layers of Pool Party card stock to create the sentiment.  I added Wink of Stella and  Glossy Accents for shine.  I also added Glossy Accents to the beach ball.  The sun is cut from a piece of watercolored paper that I stamped after using distress inks to create this color for the sun. Clear sparkling sequins were added for shine.

Don't forget to check out the fabulous inspirations from our design team and I hope that you will play along with our challenge this week.
